Laminate

Laminate flooring is a popular and versatile choice that captures the look of hardwood, tile, or stone — at a fraction of the cost. It’s durable, stylish, and easy to install, making it a great option for busy households and a wide range of interior styles.

Construction

Laminate flooring is made up of multiple layers fused together through a lamination process:

  • Wear Layer: A clear, protective coating that resists scratches, stains, and fading.
  • Decorative Layer: A high-resolution printed image that mimics natural wood, tile, or stone.
  • Core Layer: Typically made from high-density fiberboard (HDF) or particleboard for strength and stability.
  • Backing Layer: Adds structural support and helps resist moisture from below.

Together, these layers create a durable surface that’s both attractive and affordable.

Installation

Laminate flooring uses a floating floor system, meaning it’s not nailed or glued down.

Planks interlock with a click-and-lock tongue-and-groove design, allowing for quick and straightforward installation — ideal for DIY enthusiasts or fast professional setups.

Because it floats over the subfloor, laminate can often be installed over existing hard surfaces with minimal preparation.

Maintenance

  • One of laminate flooring’s biggest advantages is its ease of care.
  • Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove dust and debris.
  • Wipe spills promptly to prevent moisture from seeping between planks.
  • Avoid excess water — laminate isn’t waterproof, and standing water can cause swelling or warping.
  • Use approved cleaners recommended for laminate surfaces.

To keep your floor looking its best, place mats at entryways, use felt pads under furniture, and avoid abrasive cleaning tools.

⚠️ Note: Laminate flooring isn’t ideal for high-moisture areas like bathrooms or laundry rooms. It also cannot be sanded or refinished, so individual planks may need replacement if damaged.

Why Choose Laminate Flooring

Laminate offers a cost-effective, low-maintenance way to achieve the look of premium flooring materials. With a vast selection of styles, colours, and textures, it’s easy to find a design that fits your home and lifestyle — combining beauty, durability, and value in one smart flooring solution.
